Third Indian international school to open in Bedok
THE National Public School from Bangalore, India, is the latest foreign
school to open a campus here.
Called the NPS International School, it will be located on a 2.4ha site
along Chai Chee Lane in Bedok.
It will open in January and expects to reach an enrolment of up to 1,250
within three or four years, with students from preschool to pre-university.
School representatives met more than 400 parents on Sunday at the Suntec
Convention Centre to introduce them to the school and curriculum.
Dr K.P. Gopalkrishna, chairman of the NPS International School, Singapore,
said he aimed for the students to be strong, both academically and morally.
‘We should lead our young ones to be entrepreneurs and young leaders and
train them to have a global outlook,’ he said.
The school will offer three main curriculums: the Indian Central Board of
Secondary Education (CBSE); the IGCSE curriculum of Cambridge University;
and the International Baccalaureate.
It will also offer an array of co-curricular activities like yoga, choir and
cricket.
This is the third Indian school in Singapore, after the Global Indian
International School, and the DPS International School.
Among the parents at Sunday’s launch was housewife Preethi Elizabeth, 37,
whose IT engineer husband is an alumni of the school.
They plan to send their two daughters, aged eight and 11, to the school next
year.
‘I like that their students do very well academically and have leadership
qualities as well,’ she said.
